Why The Bible Matters

I love the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 1.

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

There are promises for those of us who will make the Bible a central focus in our lives. Look closely the Psalmist says…

A person who delights in the law of the Lord is blessed.
A person who meditates on the law of the Lord daily is blessed.
A person who delights & meditates on God’s word bears fruit.
A man who delights & meditates on God’s word does not wither or wilt away.
A man who delights & meditates on God’s word prospers in whatever they do.
