If you’re a parent of kids one of the most important things you can do is introduce your kids to Jesus. Many people talk to me and say that they’re nervous about trying to read the Bible to their kids because they don’t know much about the Bible themselves and they’re worried they may not have all the answers. Most of what I learned growing up as a kid about Jesus was from my mom and she was learning it all as a new believer herself. I am grateful that she was willing to risk teaching me things she was just learning because it helped me become who I am today.
Maybe 2016 can be the year that you begin reading the Bible as a family. Here are a few resources:
The Gospel Project
The video above shares how Jesus can be seen throughout the entire Bible. They also have tremendous resources that you can use individually or with your whole family to seek God through His word this year. Here’s a link to their specific family plans.
The Bible App for Kids
The folks at YouVersion have developed an incredible interactive app that tells the central stories of the Bible. My kids love to play with it because they can tap the screen and the characters respond to their touch. They’ve recently released a hardback Bible for kids that matches the app.
One Hope is an organization that exists to get the Bible to every child. They have great advice on how to connect your kids to the Bible – like 5 Ways to Help Your Kids Understand the Bible or 5 Ways to Get Kids Excited About the Bible. You can also partner with them in helping get the Bible to every kid – including yours!
